Brand Name KHATU
The brand name comes from the town, ‘Khatu’, 80 kms from Jaipur. Since our family roots are in Khatu which belonged to our ancestors and we are known as the ‘Khatu Family’, it was a natural choice of calling our brand 'Khatu'. The name we are popularly known by. Khatu Designs is a combination of family name and design profession.
Founders
KHATU DESIGNS was founded in August 2017 by Thakur Chandra Vijai Singh from Thikana Khatu (Shekhawati), an alumnus and former faculty of NID Ahmedabad and his wife Thakurani Meenakshi Singh, from Thikana Chanoud (Marwar), a Textile & Apparel designer trained at NID Ahmedabad. Hailing from an aristocratic background with design training from the best in the country, the duo has taught design in the premier design institutions of the country, their children are designers too. Design being the core strength of the family combined with the heritage background it builds a right combination of having a deep understanding of both traditional-classic and contemporary aesthetics which is the signature style of Khatu Designs.
Brand Proposition
The brand was born out of a need for well-designed accessories and clothing for men and women that are bespoke having heirloom value. KHATU is a design led, Jaipur based brand, with a team of designers from varied fields and age groups, having a cumulative experience of more than 40 years, it has an advantage of both seasoned and fresh design outlook. The expertise ranges from textiles, apparel, product, furniture, architecture & interior design. Variety being the core strength the team delves into both industrial and craft sectors. With clear understanding of traditional and contemporary aesthetics; materials and techniques; functionality and quality, the aim is to amalgamate all and get inspired to develop well designed rooted products that are not more nor less just true to themselves - Bespoke, Nostalgic, Aspirational - ‘Contemporary Classics’.
